Mina is 2.5 months old

Mina had her 2 mo vaccinations last Friday, and she let us know it for hours afterwards. But otherwise she is a very sweet and peaceful baby - especially when she's around people.  Taking after nani and masi, perhaps?

Getting her grip on

Why bother building neck muscles when there is a tasty fist right here?

First trip to the hardware store

This active baby insists on being perched on my shoulder and shown stuff.

She may not be totally cool with baths yet, but she loves getting her diaper changed. She stretches, she talks, she gets massaged, she jogs her legs, she smiles, she gurgles, she pees everywhere.

Spooky Thanksgiving at the Barrys

The yearly halloween party at my old PI's house.  Mina is, like, 30% bigger than she was when she was a larva, so that costume was out.  Instead she got to be an angel, which she didn't want to wear, so we busted out Wonder Woman instead.

Velma (Scooby Doo), Wonder Woman, The Cat (in the Hat).

Walk at Quarry Hill

We were running late for a birthday party on Sunday, but were very pleased when we realized that daylight savings had just kicked in and we weren't going to be late after all.  Unfortunately, we made it all the way there before we figuring out that the party was scheduled for the week AFTER. Apparently baby brain is real. Fortunately it was a lovely day and we went to Quarry Hill for a walk instead.

Monster Maggot

At some point in her future Mina will probably be outraged that she was dressed as a Botfly for her first halloween.  These critters are pretty creepy in real life since their larva need flesh to mature.  They burrow into the skin deep enough so that their heads just barely peek out of the top in order to breathe.  They can't be easily pulled out or dislodged though, since their tiny rings of barbs point upwards, like arrows. Over time, the little larva will drop into the soil where it will mature into a botfly.

Sweet, wriggly larva

Bad larva

UPDATE: Honorable mention on Dr. Bobbi Pritt's popular parasite blog: http://parasitewonders.blogspot.com/2014/10/answer-to-case-323.html. Please note that ours wasn't the most elaborate costume by a mile.

Mina at 5 weeks old

These days we have been marveling at how much stronger Mina's little neck muscles have become. Now, instead of paying attention to getting her burps out, she rears up her head like a baby dinosaur to stare at the fascinating black and white patterns posted on on the wall behind us.

Did you hear that?  That's the sound of Daddy's heart melting.

Uh uh mommy, you are not going anywhere.

Brunch at Tracy's New House

We spent a very pleasant Sunday afternoon at Tracy's new house.  She bought a lovely 3 bedroom place in Pharmacy Flats, so we broke it in with a housewarming brunch. All the aunties (and Aaron as well, actually) cooed and cuddled and passed Mina around while we ate.

While we digested our bacon, Dan happily watched the Vikings while Tracy and Mallory knitted me and Mina matching hats. Then we took walk around the Memorial Parkway neighborhood to enjoy the last few colorful days of fall.

Massage and bath

Nana giving a massage to the little peanut. Mmm, nice.

Bath time afterwards? Nope, not so fun.

Mina's first outing

Mina is almost two weeks old.  We took her on her first real outing to the farmer's market, but it was gusty and cold, so we bundled her good and tight.  Can you tell that we are first time parents?

Visits from friends

Thank you, friends, for feeding us when we couldn't feed ourselves.  These aren't all of the people who were thoughtful enough to stop by, but here are some.
