Christmas in Rochester - Catching up with friends

Dan's grad school bunch at Manske's house.

Manske's younger son, Evan, with Rowan.  Evan has a similar picture with Mina at this age.
Max, the elder son, enjoys describing the way our children smell.  Mina smelled like beans at this age, while Rowan smells like "a frying pan. No. A gold frying pan".

The Wulffs.  Liam and Caleb (~3 mo older than Mina) with Mina and Pooh.

Mina's last day at daycare

Mina had a great time at daycare, so the transition to a full-time nanny is bittersweet.  We will miss all of her little friends but hopefully she will get lots of attention, she'll get to see a few more places, she'll get to hang out with her brother and we won't be quite as stressed out.

Christmas in Roslyn

Mina got "The girl who lost her name" for xmas and was quite pleased to discover that the little girl has the same name.

Insulating the attic

The projects have started already. Our attic had insulation on the ceiling, but it was old and bits of it had fallen off.  So Dan carried about a billion rolls of insulation up there himself and insulated the whole floor, made a walkway to the windows, and framed out the staircase.

Every time he ascended into the attic in his white overalls Mina thought he was going to the moon.  "He's an assonaut!"

Rowan at 2 weeks

My post pregnancy recovery has been harder this time, and the entire family has been battling a terrible virus (Mina has been vomiting constantly, Dan has had a fever for 5 days (!), and I had to go to the ER) but Rowan is actually doing great.  He is now two weeks old and has been an amazingly chill baby so far.  He sleeps well, burps pretty independently, and has been eating like a champ...in fact he is now up to 7 lb 3 oz.

Lunch at Thyme

Mina has been totally awesome about inviting this new human into our household.  We suspect that it's because she has claimed him as her own, which makes it okay ("MY baby brudder").  Plus, she likes the puzzle Rowan got for her.  She is even happy to give him kisses and pats him when he's blue ("don't cry Wowan!").

Thankfully Ajoba has also been here to keep Mina entertained.  He even took her to see the trains.

Kanjika

Celebrated Kanjika, which is a Hindu festival that honors girls (yeah!). Fathers will wash their little girls' feet as a sign of love and protection.

Rowan Khare Litwiller

Rowan arrived right on time.  He came in at 7 lb 1 oz and 19.5 inches long and  looks just like his dad and sister, but has a beautiful shock of black hair (no wonder I felt so nauseated in my pregnancy).
