ASGCT, Seattle, WA

American Society for Gene and Cell Therapy is our particular gene therapy conference - about 1,500 people show up every year. This time it was in Seattle, which was nice because its a city I've been wanting to see for a long time - just for its general yuppie/hippie-ness. It was better because I had to give my first talk.  Only ten minutes, but of course I was still freaking out. Ultimately I practiced it so much it was pretty much my mouth giving the presentation while my brain was switched off. I think it went well though.

The Seattle skyline by night

The waterfront view from downtown

The oldest Starbucks still standing! (Starbucks started in Seattle - this is the only one that is allowed to have a different exterior). Look at the line in front of that place.

Uggghh...the GUM wall. Thousands of chewed pieces of gum stuck to a random wall. It smelled fruity as you walked past...

The Space needle. That's Catie and I at the bottom of it.

Troll made in cement under a bridge.

 Cheese made in real time.
