Trip to Singapore, 2018

After our first trip to Singapore with one kid we promised ourselves that traveling overseas could wait for a while, especially with two kids.  But tickets were super cheap (cheaper than a domestic trip - what?), Nani and Nana promised lots of swimming, and February weather in NY is dreary, so it was hard to resist.

Getting prepared

The flight is really too long for little kiddos, but they did pretty well.  Mina was an especially good traveller; she wasn't too bothered by the pressure changes, liked looking at all cool things at the airport and out the window, really liked the TV, and even got to eat ice cream. Unfortunately Rowan had a harder time of it because his ears really hurt.  He is still too little for the TV to hold his attention, and our arsenal of toys got old pretty quickly.
'
We had to take a bus to our flight in Japan and Mina exclaims at the top of her lungs "I NEVER BEEN on a BUS BEFORE! Never Ever!"

Getting over jetlag

Ajoba collected a billion tennis balls for them to toss around outside.
Water play

Rummaging in new tupperware pastures

Hanging out with Bardi Nani

The Singapore Zoo

Gardening

Painting nails...Rowan was very interested in this activity. His red toes went very well with his lavender shoes.

Chinatown during Chinese new year

Riding around on the MRT (Subway system).  Mina's new doll needed her own seat.

Enjoying the playground right next door

Giving dada a kiss

Eating local food at our neighboring hawker stalls

Freshly squeezed pineapple juice from the hawker stalls.  Mina guzzled it down so quickly there was none left for anybody else.

Meeting up with Shefali, an old high school friend.  Mina insisted that she didn't need an afternoon nap and predictably fell asleep for the whole thing.

Boat ride: of all the places in the world, I managed to get a GI bug in Singapore. Go figure.  Unfortunately for Dan, that meant he had to take care of both kids. On a boat. They got on a small boat with just Nani, Ajoba, and three other families.  They skimmed around Singapore and stopped once to dive into the water.

Mina being pampered (in mama's absence) with sweet treats

It was hot, and Rowan preferred to be naked pretty much the whole time.

Swimming in beautiful Parc Oasis

A night on the town

BBQ by the pool: corn on the cob, chicken tikka, fresh coconut juice and fish

Ajoba's birthday

On our way home

Recovering from jetlag.
Mina fell asleep with her doctors glasses on (Yanique calls this her "Harriet Potter" face)
