The book is finally DONE! This has been quite a project. The idea was conceived right around the time Mina was born, and it has been 4 years to finally finish.
Aug 2014- Jan 2015: Finished writing a detailed outline of each chapter, as well as key figures. Did some background planning, like identifying comparable content, describing the ideal audience, and finding potential publishers. Jan 2015 - Jun 2015: declined by Mayo and FA Davis, but signed an agreement with ASM Press. That was a lucky break, since they are high quality publishers in microbiology. Feb 2017: Submitted my first draft of the text to the copy editor. Feb 2017 - Jun 2018: Created the images and worked with an illustrator to make them professional. Jun 2018- Dec 2018: worked with the illustrator and copy editor to clean up the chapters. Dec 24th, 2018: submitted the final copy of the manuscript to the publisher. March 1st: Launch Day
