A new member of the family

Mina and Rowan begged and pleaded for a dog, and were even willing to walk the dog, pick up its poop and trade all their 6- and 8-year birthday presents for a puppy. Who are we to argue with that kind of fervor.

I am ridiculously overzealous planner, so instead of waiting until Sept/Oct, we started looking in January. At least Dan was able to lead us away from the adorable Rottweiler puppy pictures we fell in love with. Instead we stumbled upon some adorable German Shepherd-mix puppies at the Dumb Friends League here in town, which is a great shelter but rarely has puppies because they are snapped up so quickly.

Waiting for our number to be called at the animal shelter. We got there right 15 minutes before it opened, but we were still number 15 in line.

We're up! We got to choose two dogs to meet before getting booted from the meeting rooms.  The kids were intrigued by a very hairless chihuahua, but we met two of the German shepherd mixes instead.

Chose the cutest one of the lot.

Bringing her home

Decided on a name: Juno.  We went to PetSmart to get her a name tag while she slept in the cart.
